Igloo Core Engine

Workspace

The workspace is a fundamental component of Igloo Core Engine, which consists of one or more layers and workspace properties that dictate how Igloo Core Engine behaves when that workspace is in use. The current workspace name is displayed in the toolbar.

The full list of supported Layer types can be found here - Layers

Workspace Properties

Accessing the workspace's properties allows users to modify settings that only pertain to the active workspace, without affecting the overall settings of Igloo Core Engine.

  • Access: Navigate to Settings → Workspace Settings from the main menu bar.

These settings are confined to the workspace in which they are altered, meaning other workspaces remain unaffected.

Saving and Loading Workspaces

The ability to save the configuration of a workspace ensures that users can quickly revert to a preferred setup whenever necessary. Loading a previously saved workspace is seamless through the Workspace menu.

  • Loading and Saving: File > Save Workspace and File > Open > Workspace

  • Setting a Default Workspace: For users who have a favored workspace setup, there’s an option to set it as the Default which sets it to load automatically upon starting Igloo Core Engine. This can be done by selecting File → Set as Start-up workspace.

Workspace Templates

Workspace Templates are reusable workspace configurations used as starting points when creating new workspaces. Creating a workspace from a template generates a new, independent workspace.

Creating a Workspace from a Template

Navigate to:
File → New → Workspace

From the New Workspace dialog, select a template from the Workspace Templates list and choose Create Workspace from Template.

Creating a Template

Any existing workspace can be marked as a template.

  1. Open the Open Workspace dialog
    (File → Open → Workspace)

  2. Open the context menu (•••) next to a workspace

  3. Select Mark as Template

Managing Templates

Templates can be edited or deleted from the New Workspace dialog using the template’s context menu.

Deleting a template does not affect workspaces created from it.
