How to Manually Downgrade Using an Archive


Manual downgrading is only recommended if absolutely necessary, and should be performed with caution.
Always make a fresh backup of your current data folder before proceeding.


When to use this process

  • You have installed a newer version of Igloo Core Engine, and now need to return to a previous version

  • You created an archive during the original upgrade process by using the installer’s “Back up existing settings and files” option


Where is my archived data?

When you performed the upgrade with the backup option enabled, the installer saved a backup of your data.

You can find these archives here:

C:\ProgramData\Igloo Vision\IglooCoreEngine\archivedData\

For example:

C:\ProgramData\Igloo Vision\IglooCoreEngine\archivedData\08_07_25 18_25_03

Each folder is timestamped with the date and time the archive was created.


Manual downgrade steps

1. Back up your current data

Before making any changes, make a safe copy of your current data.
Copy this folder to a secure location (like your desktop):

C:\ProgramData\Igloo Vision\IglooCoreEngine


2. Restore the archived data

  • Navigate to your chosen archive folder, for example:

    C:\ProgramData\Igloo Vision\IglooCoreEngine\archivedData\08_07_25 18_25_03

  • Copy all contents of this archive folder.

  • Go to:

    C:\ProgramData\Igloo Vision\IglooCoreEngine

  • Paste and overwrite the existing files and folders with the contents of your archive.


3. Install the older Igloo Core Engine version

Now run the installer for the older version you wish to use.
Because your data folder now matches the older version’s expected structure, installation should proceed normally.


Important considerations

  • Any changes made after your upgrade (new sessions, settings, content) will be lost, as your system will be reverted to the state saved in the archive.

  • Only archives created by the ICE installer’s “Back up existing data” option are guaranteed to be complete.
