DirectShow is the Windows framework used for capturing video from compatible devices. Many commonly used cameras and USB capture cards (HDMI/SDI capture dongles) provide a DirectShow driver. When a device supports this driver type, Igloo Core Engine can access it directly through the DirectShow layer to display the live feed.

Properties

The DirectShow has a simple set of properties

Device

  • Opens a dropdown of all DirectShow video capture devices detected by Windows.

Resolution

  • Pick the native resolution of your input

FPS

  • Choose the frame rate that matches your source to minimize frame drops and latency.

Notes

  • Match source mode: Set resolution/FPS to the actual input signal. Mismatches can cause frame drops.

  • Audio capture - not currently supported

  • Multi‑app access: Many devices are single access under DirectShow. Use capture the device in Igloo Core Engine only.
